42 Words #36

Hey everyone,

Welcome to another week of 42 words and we are in the final leg of the marathon today.  Soon we’ll all be able to put our feet up and eat another kit kat, jaffa, banana etc but before we get excited about all of that let’s first go and recap last weeks trek into the world of Sci-Fi, as nominated by Dave .

So this week I am relieved to state that we have finally arrived at Chelsea’s choice of 36.  Why am I relieved you ask?  Well this is the first prompt I attempted and I failed big time, so now I have a chance to make amends.

But what is the theme, you ask?  Well this is one that might rattle your cage, have you grabbing your compass and cursing your cell phone.  Well this is one which might have you constricted, cautious and confused.  Well this is one that might have you feeling …

TRAPPED

Trapped where? Trapped by what?  Trapped when?  Trapped how?  Trapped why?  So many questions, so many options and so few words.  42 to be precise, so I implore you to not take a single one in vain.

And now we are down to just two – 6 and 19 – so next week will be our semi-final and the big reveal of our vote.  I know I can’t wait and if you manage to escape I’ll see you then.

Here’s my take on this week’s prompt:

When a heaven sent excursion turns hellish

 “Dorothy?”

“Umm?

“Do you have any plans for tomorrow?”

“No, why?”

“Would you like to spend it with me?”

“Of course, what did you want to do?”

Dorothy sighed, looking into Uncle Don’s eyes as he relived his youth.

She’d been trapped.

PS Don’t forget to pingback.

  1. Ted watched his pretend glass box baited with invisible food from a camouflaged hunter’s blind. Today, he would trap many. Yesterday his prey was blown away by imaginary winds. But, today would be different: He was finally going to catch some mimes…
